Choosing the best LED display

Which LED display to choose?

Choosing the perfect LED display for your business: from pixel to brightness.

LED displays have become an essential tool to promote and highlight your business. Whether for advertising, signage or for events, choosing the right LED display is crucial to get your message across effectively. In this guide, we'll explore the key factors you should consider when selecting an LED display, from pixel size to brightness, to help you make an informed decision.

The viewing distance of the LED Advertising Display

Viewing distance on LED displays refers to the optimum distance from which viewers can see the screen content clearly and legibly. In other words, it is the distance at which details and text on the screen are easily discernible and do not appear blurred or illegible.

Depending on the distance from the LED display, the Pixel Pitch size will be selected. The Pixel Pitch is the physical distance, measured in millimeters, between two pixels and determines the resolution of the display.

It is important to find the right balance between the pixel pitch size of the LED display and the viewing distance, as a display with a very large pixel pitch viewed from a very close distance can cause details to be lost. At the same time, a display with a small pixel pitch viewed from too far away can hinder the readability of the content.

The resolution of an LED display

The resolution of an LED display refers to the number of pixels that make up the display and determines the quality of the image it can produce.

To calculate the resolution it is important to consider both the size of the screen and the pixel pitch. So, if we have a 3,600 mm x 2,025 mm (width x height) LED screen with a pixel pitch of 1,875, the resolution of our screen would be obtained by dividing the width by the pixel pitch and the height by the pixel pitch. In our example it would be 3,600/ 1,875 and 2,025/ 1,875, obtaining a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

It should be noted that high resolution displays are suitable for indoor environments where viewers can be close to the screen, while slightly lower resolution displays may be sufficient for outdoor environments where the viewing distance is greater.

What brightness and degree of protection is best for an LED display?

When selecting the brightness and degree of protection of the LED display it is important to know the location of it. That is, if the advertising screen will be installed in an indoor space, in a showcase or in the outdoors. Being clear on this point will not only help us to convey the message more effectively, but also eliminate unnecessary costs.

The following table shows the recommended brightness and degree of protection for each LED display location.
